I can't log in into my computer account normally - it may be a processor, os or other failure- I will probably know once I reinstall windows. The problem, however, is that since I can't access my normal account (a temp account loads when I click my icon, all other accounts work fine, the computer is very very slow though) I can't access outlook (ms outlook 2003) and mozilla bookmarks, both of which I would really really want to back up before formatting the hard drive. Windows is unfortunately not on a separate partition..
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!!
If the other accounts are working fine, it's probably just some config that's screwed up in your account profile.
Are any of the other accounts administrators? If they are, use them to access and backup your files / settings.
Once backed up, use the other admin account to delete your messed up account from the 'Users' settings in the Control Panel.
Once deleted, create yourself a new account. That should rectify anything that's messed up in your profile (although you'll have to manually restore your settings).
To be extremely safe, it might be worth buying a new internal hard drive for the new windows install (assuming you have a desktop machine). It's a cheap way of removing the worry about accidentally deleting any files.....
I think your XP is currepted or virus affected. So I suggest you to repair your XP with the CD of XP and if then the problem will not be solved out then Format your computer. Your problem will be solved out and if yet not solved then contact your Hardware Engineer.
